Hal McCoy

Hal McCoy was just a West Virginia mountain boy

He was no fool he went to school and made a name

He became a sports writer that is one of the best

Today we find his name in the baseball hall of fame

Many sports has this man covered in all his years

He was excellent in writing about all kinds of sports

But he excelled in baseball covering Cincinnati Reds

He has always given his well written baseball reports

Though he still covers the Reds in their home games

His failing eyesight restricted him to only home games

He still does his hall of fame caliber writings every day

Interviewing the players he even knows their nicknames

Hal I salute you and the wonderful writing career you have

Your name justly belongs in the hallow halls of Hall of fame

You write in a true form never to distort anyone in any way

Hal, my favorite baseball writer you are a credit to the game
